Lakefront Living Realty Ohio Expansion: Candlewood Lake
For years, Lakefront Living Realty has led the industry in pairing potential buyers with lakefront specialists who were experts in their field and in their specific lake market. Now, Lakefront Living Realty is proud to announce that we have brought on a new full-time lakefront specialist at Candlewood Lake and due to market success, has opened up a new satellite office within the lake community. This new agent has 25 years of experience and will be the epicenter of next week’s blog, however we thought that this would be the perfect time to really do Candlewood Lake justice and do a blog just focusing on bringing a spotlight to the lake itself, the home of our new office.
The development of Candlewood Lake began in the early 1970’s by a private developer who shortly thereafter ran out of money after completing the lake and most of the construction of the amenities. A committee was formed consisting of existing land owners at the lake and they came together and bought Candlewood from the developer, and then created the Candlewood Lake Association. After thirty years of good budgeting and marketing the lake has remained strong and has thrived as a close knit community.
The lake itself is only 45 minutes to 1 hour away from Columbus, Ohio and provides an excellent option for people in Central Ohio who are looking for a lake home. It’s a beautiful and serene private lake that rests within a gated community just fifteen minutes from the historic town of Mt. Gilead. When driving around residents will notice that the majority of homes are classy and consist of a wide range of styles from cabins to ranches. Candlewood has a type of home for everyone and although homes are generally on less than 1 acre lots, members will find that between the 140 acres of parks and green space and the natural wildlife that comes with it ( I was just there and saw five or six deer) the lake gives off a “wilderness” feel and really doesn’t feel like the typical “sub-division” lake.
Candlewood encompasses 250 acres of clean water, and with an average depth of approximately 30 ft the lake is great for fishing and boating alike. The community hosts fishing competitions of all ages throughout the year and anglers will find an array of fish to catch including largemouth and smallmouth bass, catfish, bluegill, black and white crappie, walleye, yellow perch, and hybrid striped bass. Residents will also enjoy boating activities of all kinds including relaxing on a pontoon, kayaking, tubing and more. There are two boat launches for residents and almost 6 miles of beautiful wooded shoreline. Although there are size and a mile-per-hour restriction in place it’s not enough to damper the fun that boaters have on regular occasion. And although the lake doesn’t allow jet skis, members of the community will tell you that they wouldn’t change it, the lake is quiet and peaceful and on most days the stillness of the water could put you right to sleep. Most weekdays you’ll find the 250 acre lake to yourself and none of the residents would trade any of it just for a jet ski.
Residents will also find a Lodge that has a small library and is available for large social events ( look out for one of Lakefront Living Realty’s events this year!).
The community also has well maintained amenities, enjoyable by the whole family, including a basketball court, tennis court and an outdoor pool right next to the lodge. Members will also enjoy several parks across the community including Wil Blue Park that has playground equipment, as well as South Park where residents can fish, kayak, and picnic right at the water. The community also recently put in the South Wood Walking Trail where residents can cycle or jog to their hearts content. The community also has a lovely sandy beach with sand volleyball and playground equipment where residents can swim and have unlimited fun!
Lakefront Homes in the community range from 299k up to 600k depending on location and condition. But potential buyers will find that Candlewood offers residents a much more reasonable price range compared to other lakes in Ohio and that every dollar spent is worth it.
