1. Know All the Details about the Fireworks!
This is the most important tip about spending the Fourth of July at your lake house! You need to make sure you know the date and time of the show, but also where they are lighting them off. This is crucial as depending on location you may or may not be able to see the show from your home. If that’s the case you need to know the best spot on the lake or in the community where you can go see the fireworks. Find out how busy these spots are and see if you need to reserve a spot! Different lakes will have different set ups and times for the show, you can count on the fireworks at Candlewood and at Apple Valley to be different!
2. Know how Busy the Lake Gets!
Holiday weekends can be a busy time for recreational water usage. Make sure to know how busy the lake gets and if you want to join in on the fun if it’s packed. Don’t make a promise to the kids to go tubing before finding out if there will be any space to actually go boating on the big holiday! If the lake is the best spot to watch the show from people may be out on the lake early to claim their spot!
3. Know the Law and HOA Rules
Let’s be honest, holidays are always a popular time to kick back and have an adult beverage or two. But let’s be clear, driving a boat while intoxicated is against the law, a vehicle is a vehicle and you can’t operate one if you’re beyond the legal limit. Not mention the obvious safety reasons, don’t jeopardize your holiday by making poor choices! Also make sure to understand the state laws and HOA rules for having alcohol on the boat! This applies year round but especially around the holidays!
4. Have Fun!
One of the most important things is to have FUN! One of the most important reasons you bought your dream lake house was to enjoy it with your family, the Fourth of July is just another opportunity to create memories with your loved ones at your lake house!
